How is that...better than "My hair" as a post title?
In the last week my hair has been coming out in large chunks. I just looked terrible. My hair was dead on my head...dry and brittle and breaking off when I would brush it...or touch it for that matter. Plus it was getting into everything and clogging my shower drain. Gross! If I was a migratory bird I would be stuck here until the molting stopped. LOL Sooooooooooooo on Saturday morning, with the help of my dear sweet Carrie as butcher...oops, I mean barber and my sister Molly as photographer extraordinaire, we DID IT! We shaved my head. I was terrified but not as scared as Oscar who hid in the closet the whole time.
Carrie did a fantastic job...truly. And Molly, Carrie and Angelica loved me & nurtured me through the whole scary event. I could not ask for a more loving support system. Thank you Carrie and Molly...so much.
So as I reflect back I have to say it was not bad...truly. I am already used to it. But we may go get more hats just in case! Baby Gap, here we come!!
xoxo
p.s. Oscar has already come around and loves rubbing my cue ball...sweet boy!

It was a great morning! You are the bravest woman I know. It's really amazing how calm you are. I thank God for our friendship and for your peace.
Kisses,
Carrie
You are beautiful! and so is Carrie and Molly for being there with you!
mimi...remember that day i was there and you were still in your robe, hadn't showered, looking a little on the frumpus side and i told you that bald was going to be a huge improvement over how you looked and you should get in that shower now?!!!!!!!!!!!!! (the moons girls are notoriously subtle)

Mimi, that is AMAZING!!! The photos are beautiful, and the video put to music is SO moving!!! What a testament to your bravery and unwillingness to let cancer stop you from being YOU! I am in awe...
Dad always said "bald is beautiful" and I know he's looking down now with a proud grin on his face!
Thank you, Molly and Carrie, for being there ...
Love you~

I just watched the video with Ben and David. It was amazing and you are beautiful. Ben said that it brought back so many memories from last year and that you look great just like he did after the big shave.
We love you!
Dear Chemo-saab-ee,

Oh, MIMI! You are so beautiful and courageous. I say skip the Baby Gap hats and show it off. Bald IS beautiful (my dad always said so, too). I love you. --Janice.
You are beautiful...
wow wee sweet pea what a "purdy" head....you did great and you look great...its tough to face(much easier with so many lovely's easing the moment", but once you do the shave, really its not so big in the scope of things happening in your life right now.
Anyway-I am proud of you; for me it was a somewhat surreal evening when we buzzed the hair...and I did not mind it either. My little fella even helped with some of the shaving and he too loved the feel of the head so much that he never wanted me to wear wigs...so I did a few times until he pulled it off on Mothers Day and we took bald pixs and I was like "thank you God" b/c the wigs are wickedly hot....do-rags, hats and bald were my thing.
Fists up girl...you look fantastic, bald is chic and you are one step closer to being on to "the healing" fists up we never give up!!! JoAnna
AWESOME! You look like a SUPER-FIT, bad a** CAGE-FIGHTER ready to stomp some butt! Truly, you're absolutely GORGEOUS. Very sporty. Hats, scmats--I say show it off, too! You are SO STRONG, SO BRAVE--AND WE LOVE YOU! (And dinner is on the way, as soon as I can get the @#&% car to start!) - Chris
YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL!!! Wow, with every image in that film, you looked more and more strong, more and more transparent and sincere, more and more HEALTHY. Yes, healthy. To me, it was as if your eyes gained new clarity and your smile widened by 2 inches! No hat necessary, just super-red-I-just- bought-this-at-Walgreens-lipstick girl!
Merry Christmas Maureen!! I LOVE your new look...seriously...it does amplify your beautiful dominant features and you look fab!!! Not everyone has that good-lookin' of a noggin'...even if it is Baby Gap size...LOL! Merry Merry, sista! xoxo
I remember when my husband did this during his treatment it was really a powerful moment. The slowly losing the hair seemed to be something that was happening to him. Then shaving his head was something he took control of. It's a real, "go-get-'um" kick a** attitude!
You look great!!!
