I forgot to add to add this to my post below. I would like to acknowledge the possibility that maybe brussel sprouts are not a practical joke on God's part. I realize that of my tens of readers there is a portion of you that are passionate about your brussel sprouts...and that you love them...and I have the e-mails and cards to prove it. LOL I promise to leave the brassica oleracea alone going forward.

If you cook them right and get by the initial smell of cabbagey-ness, they're really good--not the B.S. of our childhood. If you feel up to cooking, try shredding them, sauteeing them in butter until tender, then add salt and pepper, some lemon, and a bit of truffle oil. Or some parmesan or pecorino cheese. I bet Oscar would love it, that little veggie man. Now, lima beans are still on my list of God's jokes. But you getting well tops my list for God's triumphs. Love you! --Janice.
